National oil and gas forum 2024: new vector of development – science, technology, competence
We live in an era of rapid change and key sectors of the global economy have entered a period of global transformation. First of all, this concerns the fuel and energy complex. But any changes are an incentive for further development, for the search for new ideas, partners and solutions. At the same time, reliance on already accumulated knowledge, experience and competencies is always the key to successful movement into the future. The complex geopolitical situation is also making its own adjustments to the activities of global energy markets. Today against the background of the global geopolitical crisis, the role of the oil and gas industry as a guarantor of energy security for most countries has increased again.

We are witnessing fundamental changes in the oil and gas industry itself, in particular in terms of the redistribution of major commodity flows. Russia has taken another confident step towards the East, radically changing the vector of its hydrocarbon exports and the development of technological partnerships and cooperation. Taking into account these trends, the National oil and gas forum will begin the fundamental process of transforming the architecture of its program in 2022. The key idea will be the formation of new economic ties and technological partnerships in the perimeter of the Eurasian space, within the framework of such international structures as the SCO, the EAEU, ASEAN and BRICS. Taking into account the main vector of development of trade and economic relations in Russia and the tasks set by the Government of the Russian Federation, the organizing committee of the event decided that starting from 2023, the NPF will begin a smooth change of its name to the Eurasian oil and gas forum, we plan to complete this process and the corresponding rebranding by early 2025. According to the established tradition, the Forum will be held annually at Expocentre Fairgrounds in conjunction with the largest international exhibition Neftegaz.

Other key issues of the Forum in 2024 include: interaction between the state, science and business related to technological sovereignty and modernization of the domestic fuel and energy sector; priority areas and parameters for the development of economic policy in the industry; analysis of import substitution programs for critical products of industrial engineering and information technology; further development of climate projects in Russia and in the world; carbon management and new technologies decarbonization.

We have seen that the transformation of the global economy does not imply a rapid and complete abandonment of fossil fuels. Most experts believe that oil and gas production will continue to grow for several more decades. The imbalance between traditional and new energy sectors is fraught with a shortage of energy resources and the onset of a real «energy famine” on a global scale. Therefore, it is extremely important to comprehensively develop the fuel and energy sector, to achieve a synergy effect through the use of both alternative sources and fossil raw materials. It is completely wrong to rigidly contrast new directions of development of the fuel and energy complex based on an energy transition strategy with traditional energy sectors, primarily the oil and gas industry.

According to the established tradition, the Forum will be held annually at Expocentre Fairgrounds in conjunction with the largest international exhibition Neftegaz.
